Another huge success in 2014!, says official RBTE website. It was a great show, large exhibition and knowledge sessions — we agree. The latest edition of Europe’s biggest and fastest growing retail solutions show – RBTE 2014, with 8,642 attendance – an increase of 20.23%.

@WalmartLabs is redefining Commerce for the largest retailer worldwide, through the innovative fusion of retail, social and mobile. “Walmart wants to tap into social data and entice mobile phone toting customers to its stores”.

We’ve posted on Twitter several updates about Walmart has acquired social media startup Kosmix, about plans to change the way of retailing, etc. Now the time when we can look to Walmart’s tech plans in details. Are they really able to redefine commerce…?

UnifiedPOS implementation in POS for .NET

SoftElegance has successfully tested the implementation of UnifiedPOS in Microsoft POS for .NET v1.12. The issue is that the latest specification is from July 2008 and there is no official support of Visual Studio 2010 and Windows 7.

Goal:

The goal was to test does Microsoft POS for .NET v1.12 (the version from July 03, 2008) runs on Windows 7 and does it supports on .NET Framework 4 in Visual Studio 2010.

Overview

Unified Point of Service it is an architectural specification for application interfaces to point-of-service devices that are used in the retail environment. This standard, which has been in existence for several years, is both operating system-independent and language neutral and defines an architecture for application interface to retail devices and a set of retail device behaviors sufficient to support a range of POS solutions.

IT in Retail Research. A summary white paper

Highlights of key findings on the systems used by the leading 100 UK retailers
The latest Martec IT in Retail research, sponsored by BT Expedite, is now available. The report is an analysis of the systems used by the 100 leading UK retailers in 2010-11.
It’s the eighth annual study carried out by Martec International and is undertaken by interviewing CIOs in the leading retail companies. The results represent 75 per cent of the UK retail market by sales. This year, the survey also features for the first time a report on the systems used by the 100 leading non-food retailers.
